With four ranches and National Forest Service across the fence there is no end to the trail riding opportunities. We have several favorite trails to ride or we can take off and explore new country where the cowboys and Indians of yesteryear rode. If you want simple riding or feel adventurous and want to strike out on your own we have it. One of our favorites is the 450ft vertical descent into Craven Canyon on the east end of the ranch. This canyon is also home to a myriad of Indian paintings. The ranch also has several areas of lithic scatter where Indians of the past knapped their arrow and spear heads out of stone, and teepee rings where Indian encampments once were. You can also identify different plants that the Indians used to survive on and are still available today.

Hunting
The Sunrise Ranch boarders the Black Hills National Forest where there is over one million acres of hunting land available. Whether you’re looking for a trophy animal, a winter meat supply, or a great photographic “shoot”, you’ll be entranced by the scenic country and abundant wildlife.
Hunts are available on the ranch as a “do-it-yourself” option or a fully outfitted trip. The lodge is a great base camp to work from and we’ll take care of you like family.

Spring turkey hunts, great mule deer, antelope and even trophy buffalo hunts now available.

We are nestled in the Southern Black Hills easy touring distance from Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Wind Cave and Jewel Cave National Parks, The Mammoth Site, Evans Plunge, Devils Tower and The Bad Lands. Whether you want to spend most of your time on the ranch or just some of the time, your vacation here will be one that you won’t soon forget.

We offer a true South Dakota Adventure not just a vacation.
